Leicester will host a pioneering conference next year to promote cities that support cycling, walking and active lifestyles.
The Active City conference will be held at Curve from 18-20 May 2016, and will attract local, national and international delegates and speakers.
The conference is coming to the city following a proposal submitted by Leicester City Council and Leicester Shire Promotions.
The news that Leicester will host the event was announced at this year’s Active City conference, which is currently taking place in Newcastle (25-26 June).

For the last two years the Learning Support Centre have taken part in the Green Impact project which is run via the National Union of Students, it’s an online workbook to document how green, environmentally friendly and sustainable your business and working spaces are.
Company representatives Joanne Hancock and Amy Leyshon recently collected the silver award and as a result of this decided to plan a Sustainability Day which will be held at their office, Phoenix Yard, Jubilee Building, 5 Upper Brown Street, Leicester, LE1 5TE on Wednesday 24th June from 10am – 4pm.
The focus of the day will be Fairtrade, sustainable companies, alternative shopping e.g. vintage and charity shops, local produce, green cleaning products and transport options. The website offers a range of rewards on local and national retailers simply by logging sustainable travel journeys for your business, commuting and leisure journeys. In addition, there are a range of mini-competitions taking place.
