De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) is a Higher Education Institution in the heart of Leicester. Originally founded as the Leicester School of Art in 1870, the University has evolved though many incarnations including the Leicester Colleges of Art and Technology and Leicester Polytechnic. The latter officially became De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) in June 1992.

The University now provides quality education to 22,500 students across four Faculties – Arts, Design and Humanities; Business and Law; Health and Life Sciences and Technology - and employs more than 3,000 staff. The University was recently awarded TEF Gold status in recognition of its outstanding teaching and in 2017 was ranked 13th out of 154 UK Universities and Colleges, by People and Planet, for its environmental and ethical performance.

New online travel survey aims to encourage feedback on commuting and workplace travel from local employers and their staff.

This November, Stevenage based businesses and staff are being encouraged to participate in our short survey to help influence and inform local workplace transport measures.

The SmartGo Stevenage survey will consult staff members from local businesses on their travel habits to work. The results of the survey will help to focus on possible initiatives that could help commuters to choose more sustainable and cost-effective options for travelling to work in the town.
