WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, one of the world’s leading professional services firms, has commissioned specialist sustainable transport consultancy, Go Travel Solutions, to support their delivery of a new Go Smarter Business Network in areas of North East England.
The Go Smarter Business Network has been developed to meet the transport needs of businesses across the North East Combined Authority (NECA) area and help encourage employees to get out of their cars and adopt a greener commute to work.
The Network will be focussed around four facilitated meetings per year where members can hear from professionals in this field and share knowledge and best practice with each other. It also provides member organisations with access to exclusive travel discounts for their staff through membership of Go Travel Solutions’ Smartgo workplace travel programme.
Businesses from Milton Keynes will get the opportunity to learn more about the benefits of adopting electric vehicles at a dedicated forum in June.
The free ‘Transport Innovation for Workplaces’ event is hosted by Go Travel Solutions as part of its Smartgo Milton Keynes programme, from 2-3.45pm on 8 June 2016 at Transport Systems Catapult.
Electric vehicles offer considerable business benefits with fuel costs per mile from just 2p and this event will focus on the financial and other business benefits now possible through adopting electric vehicles.
Go Travel Solutions has announced four new partnerships with UK bike suppliers to promote cycling as an option for workplace travel and commuting. The partnerships will provide UK employers and their staff with access to discounts on bike storage equipment, folding bikes and electric bikes to encourage experienced and new cyclists to bike to work.
The partnerships with Cyclepods, Beat Bikes, 50cycles and Brompton Bike Hire were launched at the national Cycle City Active City conference from 19–20 May 2016 at Curve in Leicester. Cycle City Active City is the ground-breaking conference and exhibition for all those working to encourage utility cycling, walking and active, healthy lifestyles across Britain.

Co-wheels, the UK’s only independently-owned national car club, has joined forces with sustainable travel consultancy, Go Travel Solutions to extend its car club membership offer throughout the UK.
UK employers registered as members of Go Travel Solutions’ Smartgo workplace travel networks can now join Co-wheels for £25 (matched by a subsequent £25 worth of credit) and can sign up staff members as drivers for just £5 each – a reduction from the standard £12 per driver.
At the time of the announcement, Santander CEO, Nathan Bostock said: “we will be looking to share best practice between Santander Cycles in London and Milton Keynes, where it makes sense and adds value.”
At a special ‘Bikes for Business Showcase’ event on Monday 18th April, hosted by Smartgo Milton Keynes, Santander took the opportunity to update local businesses on the progress of the Bike Hire scheme and to showcase how it has promoted and developed bike facilities for staff at its Milton Keynes headquarters.
