W2W is a project which helps jobseekers overcome a lack of transport to work locations. It is for those people who are able to do a job employers are offering, but unable to get to the job location. This might be because working hours are outside the times the buses operate or they would have to take two buses to get to the location. Wheels to Work is the loan of a pedal or electric bike at low cost to people who find that transport is a barrier in accessing work or further training or education. It would cost the jobseeker £10 per month for the loan of either an electric or pedal bike or £30 a month for an electric scooter. The bike is available for 6 months until they are in a position to afford their own transport.
Jobseekers need to approach the Wheels to Work scheme through the scheme deliverer, Melton Borough Council. Their telephone number is 01664 502388 or 07917 592621. The business benefits as it means a larger number of people are able to access work locations. For paper copies of posters or leaflets, please call Hannah May on tel: 0116 4542817.
