Leicester is proud to welcome rugby fans from across the world for Rugby World Cup 2015 (RWC 2015). As well as the sporting action, there will be a cultural festival open to all to get into the spirit of the games. Visitors can also take time out away from the sport to discover Leicester’s historic centre.

The tournament kicks off on September 18 2015 with the opening ceremony and match at the home of English rugby - Twickenham.

In Leicester, there will be three matches – all hosted at Leicester City Stadium.

  • Sunday October 4, 14:30, Argentina v Tonga
  • Tuesday October 6, 16:45, Canada v Romania
  • Sunday October 11, 12:00, Argentina v Namibia

The key fixture for transport issues will be Canada v Romania on Tuesday 6 October. Kick off is 16:45 so ticketholders will be trying to get into the city as many local workers and commuters are trying to get out. Parking resources will also be stretched.

Aside from the matches, there will also be an official Rugby World Cup 2015 Fanzone for Leicester at Victoria Park. Here visitors can soak up the atmosphere of the tournament without a ticket! This is the place in Leicester to watch the games on a giant 10m x 5.5m screen.

There will be three covered grandstands with seating for around 500 people to watch the stage and screen, as well as plenty of room for standing and sitting. Directing people to the Fanzone is an excellent way of regulating traffic and footfall on our three match days.
